California, New York, Florida, Illinois, and Minnesota together accounted for 251 of the 262 ADA website lawsuits filed in July 2026—representing 95.80% of all filings.

Only 12 plaintiffs filed over 50% of all ADA website lawsuits in July 2026, and just 9 law firms filed over 82% of all filings, highlighting the continued concentration of ADA website litigation among a limited number of plaintiffs and law firms.

Out of 63 total plaintiffs, the top 12 collectively filed 133 of the 262 total lawsuits, demonstrating high litigation concentration.

The remaining 51 plaintiffs filed 129 lawsuits (49.24%), showing that a small group of repeat plaintiffs continued to drive more than half of July’s ADA website litigation.

Important: Website Owners Remain Responsible
While platforms may provide built-in accessibility features, ADA website accessibility lawsuits can still arise when accessibility is not properly addressed across the overall user experience. Accessibility tools support remediation but are not a complete solution. Proper implementation, regular testing, ongoing remediation, and continuous monitoring are required.
CIPA Website Lawsuits in July 2026
California continued to see CIPA-related website litigation, with 37 CIPA website lawsuits identified in July — filed across a range of consumer-facing and technology-driven industries.
6 Plaintiffs Filed Over 32% of CIPA Lawsuits in July 2026
CIPA-related website litigation in July 2026 was concentrated among a relatively small group of repeat plaintiffs. Out of 31 unique plaintiffs, six plaintiffs filed two lawsuits each, while the remaining plaintiffs filed one lawsuit each.
- •The six most active plaintiffs collectively filed 12 of the 37 CIPA lawsuits (32.43%) in July 2026.
- •Alondra Gutierrez, Anthony Ferreiro, James Dallas, Mason Oneill, Alicia Sanchez, and Brady Laplante each filed 2 lawsuits (5.41%).

Why Accessibility Widgets Are Not Enough
Accessibility widgets and overlay tools cannot guarantee full ADA compliance. Websites relying solely on these tools continue to face legal exposure because automated overlays cannot fix underlying code-level barriers to access.
Maintaining true accessibility requires proper implementation from the ground up, regular manual testing by users with disabilities, ongoing remediation, and continuous monitoring to ensure websites remain accessible to all users.
