Introduction
Alt Text Pro (“we”, “our”, “us”) provides a Shopify app that helps merchants generate and save clear, accessible alt text for the images in their store, for
better image SEO and accessibility. This Privacy Policy explains what information we access, how we use it, and how we protect it.
Information We Access
- Store name and store URL
- Your product, collection, blog, and file images
- Basic product details used to describe images (such as title, type, and vendor)
- Permission to read those images and to save the alt text you approve back to your store
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Does NOT collect customer personal data
- Does NOT access orders
- Does NOT access payment information
- Does NOT access customer names, emails, or addresses
- Does NOT track your store visitors
How We Use Information
We use store information only to:
- Scan your store to find which images need alt text
- Generate alt text from your product details or with AI
- Save the alt text you approve back to your store
- Provide support if you contact us
We do not sell, rent, or share merchant data with third parties.
Data Storage
We do not permanently store your images or any customer data. To keep the app working while it is installed, we keep only a small amount of basic information, such as a secure connection to your store and a simple count of how many AI descriptions you have used. When the app is uninstalled, this information is deleted and all access permissions are automatically revoked. The alt text already saved to your store stays with you.
Third-Party Services
If you choose to generate alt text with AI, the image is sent to a trusted AI provider (Google) to create a short description of what it shows. The image is used only to generate that description and is not kept afterward. Their handling of that request is subject to their own privacy policy.
Data Security
We follow reasonable security practices to protect store information and comply with Shopify’s API requirements.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by revising the “Last Updated” date above.
